About The Tournament
Burunu Lite is an extension of the Burunu Boma Global Sport Fishing Tournament series, held across different atolls of the Maldives. Burunu Lite Addu Edition marks the first event in this regional series.
Burunu Lite is a structured sport fishing initiative designed to bring competitive fishing closer to local communities across the Maldives. It focuses on promoting participation at atoll level, showcasing traditional fishing knowledge alongside modern sport fishing practices, and strengthening engagement with the "Blue Economy" through organised, community-based tournaments.
By following international IGFA standards, Burunu Lite ensures responsible angling practices, including catch-and-release and regulated retention, reinforcing sustainable use of marine resources while supporting the development of sport fishing tourism across the Maldives.
