About The Tournament
Burunu Boma is a premier Global Sport Fishing Tournament, Initiated by the Visit Maldives Club and now proudly hosted by the Visit Maldives Corporation to position the Maldives as a world-leading destination for sustainable sport fishing tourism.
This flagship initiative serves as a vital platform to unite both direct and indirect stakeholders, including travel agents, hospitality providers, media, influencers, and local businesses, fostering a collaborative tourism community. By shifting the focus toward a high-value, niche market, the tournament promotes the Maldives' rich marine biodiversity as a year-round attraction for international anglers, diversifying the nation’s "sun, sand, and sea" image.
By adhering to international IGFA standards, the event ensures the highest level of sporting integrity and sustainable angling, aiming to bring more global parties into the fold and cementing the Maldives' reputation for sport fishing.
